Palm-tastic Nails Did

One more day till I go to Cuba! Man, I'm beginning to think I should have spread out my vacations a bit more :S LOL.

So my friend Suzanne is getting married in August and this is her little hurrah before she's committed for life! I can't believe this girl has been to only Toronto, Niagara Falls, and Portugal. Deprived right? That's what I'm saying. Hopefully this trip will lay the travel bug in my girl and she'll push for the soon to be hubby to take her places more exciting than Niagara's Lundy's Lane!! Its gonna be Suzanne, my friend Jenn and myself for a whole week of Varadero-debauchery

To get more into the mood (I really don't get excited until I'm on the plane) I thought I'd give my nails a bit of island flavour!

I used Nubar LLC for the base, Orly Snowcone for the water, and China Glaze Lemon Fizz and Solar Power for the sand. Then for the palm trees I used Rimmel Torrid for the trunks, and two green nail art pens for the leaves.

Meanwhile - I've been watching this new show that I can't get enough of! Its called The United States of Tara. I think its on Showcase but I don't get that channel so I watch it all online. Its like Sybil, but on TV!

Check it out:
Hope you all have a fantastic week! I'll see you when I get back!!!

Care Bears Countdown Nails Did

4, 3, 2, 1!! I don't know about you, but when I think of my childhood or 80s nostalgia in general I always reminisce about the Care Bears. They were so great! They taught me lots of important things like: Always help your neighbors, you can find a friend in strange places, staring at someone is okay if you're sending them good vibes directly from your tummy, and colourful overly-happy bears live in the sky.

So I picked my favorite bears of the bunch - and really its taking into account that my second favorite bears are the Panda Care Bear cousins Perfect and Polite but since I already did pandas just before this I thought it may be cheating. Also I had a big love on for Grams Bear - who was my equivalent to my ACTUAL Grandma to me anyway.

So my FAVORITE Bear is Birthday Bear. I actually received a plush of him when I was young. I actually think it was my first stuffed toy ever but I'm not sure. He's also to me like Bobo is to Mr. Burns - forever beloved, forever left behind. I have no idea where he is. But I'd like to imagine in some little girls loving arms and not a landfill :(

However, since then Ben went out and bought me a replacement Birthday Bear and surprised me with it. Such a great hubby right?

I used Nubar LLC for the base, China Glaze White on White for the Clouds and various nail art pens for Birthday Bear.

And then we have Cheer Bear on my pointer, Grumpy Bear on my middle, Good Luck Bear on my ring and Tenderheart Bear on my pinky.

I actually forgot all about Funshine Bear - who was also not only one of my favorites, but also my favorite colour yellow, but by that time I had already put my top coat on. Boo.

I love how surprised they all look! Hahaha, what can I say, its hard to do face detail that small :P

And just incase you have no clue what i'm talking about, get a load of the nostalgic awesomeness that is the Care Bears, but not the "Care Bears Family" that I remember the best because all the youtuber's have disabled the embed feature for that intro >:(

Aww Thanks!

Thank you so much to jo.frugal from Frugal for tagging me for these rewards :) If you haven't been to Frugal I suggest you become a follower because she has a lovely blog which deserves much love and combines two of my favorite things - nail polish and movies! In fact... I don't know about your mani routines but I actually always watch movies when I'm doing my manis - that's how I know how long they take! LOL.

Seven facts about me:
1) I HATE PICKLES
2) I'm a yoga enthusiast. I've done a yoga marathon that's lasted 4 hours!
3) I could eat Japanese food EVERYDAY
4) My favorite colour is yellow because the other girls in class chose pink
5) Despite the fact I love bacon, I didn't have it in my fridge for 9 months
6) I collect comic books
7) I'm a big tea snob and have taken classes to become a tea sommelier

For this one I'm cheating a bit LOL. Check out the 10 things that make me happy here in a previous post :) It has pictures! It's worth it ;)

SPREADING THE LOVE!!!
 Brooke from Babbling Brooke
Krystle from The Girl Who Nailed It

Don't Adjust Your TV Nails Did

As you may or may not know I work in the glamorous world of TV managing TV promotions for 7 Canadian stations including (but not limited to) W Network, YTV and CMT. And when I say glamorous I mean not actually glamorous at all. Actually radio was like 100x's more glamorous...but only because I got free swag like ALL the time: movie tickets, beer, clothes, video games. In TV I can't even steal decent office supplies! Oh well, at least my nails look snazzy!

Today my nails are inspired by the industry I know and love. And the screen we see at least once a week. Good old Rogers cable!  I used this picture as my template:

To start off and to make things a wee bit easier I drew lines on my nails as a sort of grid to where I was going to draw in the colours with a pen and then I set to work. I used a lot of colours so I'll just list all that I used:

  • Frankened grey from China Glaze White on White and Liquid Leather
  • CG Solar Power
  • CG For Audrey
  • Nail art pens in Red, Green, Purple and Blue
  • CG Neon Purple Panic
  • CG Liquid Leather and Sexy in the City for the dark blue
  • CG White on White
Then I just filled in the boxes one by one with a small brush until they were all full.

I topped it off with Seche Vite to make everything stay in place. SO - this was a long mani I'm not going to lie. Between doing frankens, drawing grids and painting everything with a small brush  by hand I was running about 2.5 hours. BUT I did it watching House and Ultimate Cakes and Ben rewatching the Giants win the superbowl (for the 3rd time :S) so I had some time.

Phew...next time though I'll lean on the side of something a little simpler LOL. But they look pretty cool so I guess the time spent was worth it!!

Muppets for Sheilah Nails Did

I haven't seen Sheilah in about a year now! Oh the days of sitting in edit...doing more gossiping than work, yet still being so efficient you would think all we talked about was putting together W Network nexts and nows. MOAR KISSING SCENES! Oh the good old days. Now the coordinators don't even sit in with the editors. :(

So to entice her to come back I did her request of muppet nails. Granted they're not very good. So all I want is for her to visit with no obligation to stay. I think that's fair!

AHAHAAHAH look at that mess. LOL. Okay so - The thumb is Kermit, pointer is Miss Piggy (it is too!), middle is Gonzo, ring is Animal and pinky is Beeker.

I think Kermit came out the best...which isn't saying much LOL.

Okay everything has a base of CH White on White.

Kermit: CH Liquid Leather for the black and Nubar Green Tea for the Green. I used a darker green art pen to line around everything

Miss Piggy: Nail art pens, CH Solar Power for the Hair and CH Neon Purple Panic for the eyeshadow.

Gonzo: No name light blue from the dollar store for his beak, CH Sexy in the City for his hair, CH Solar Power for his yellow eyelids and CH Liquid Leather for the black.

Animal: (ahahahah..sure) CH Neon Purple Panic for the hair, Liquid Leather for the black, OPI Thrill in Brazil for the red and an orange nail art pen.

Beaker: Actually this one isn't that bad... Pink nail art pen for his skin, orange nail art pen for his nose and hair and Thrill in Brazil for the mouth.

BTW Sheilah, this took 1.5 hours. That's how much I heart you.

Oh friendship.
