Purple People Eater Nails Did

I was dying to try my China Glaze purples I bought a couple of weeks ago but never actually got a chance to use and now I actually really love how these turned out. I cant stop staring at them!! OOOoooooh. I used China Glaze Purple Panic, 2 coats for the base and then Coconut Kiss sponged on to make a gradient effect inspired by The Daily Nail. Then I used Liquid Leather to Konad the design over it with M63 plate. I also used a gold glitter pen to add a little something something to the swirls.






Thanks to Kim for the tip to use Q-tips to clean the Konad stamps!! OMG such a life saver. Last time I did the stamping I had to redo several nails but this time I did them all in one try! ONE TRY. Just as I was beginning to think that I'd never get the hang of it. Now I lay in wait for my Konad special polish to arrive to see if it makes a difference. I'm waiting in earnest to use the special black on the argyle design *so excited*!!

Jenn's "Cheer-o-rama" Nails Did

So apparently Jenn's holiday nails inspired some nails did cheer at the cheerleading gym she coaches at. So she asked that I do them again in order to impress the masses. So here they are! She was wonderful enough to put on the base of China Glaze's Sexy in the City and I topped it off with a variety of nail art pens for the little bursts of "cheer" (get it? eh? cheer? cause she's a cheerleader? fine.) and Sally Hansen's Disco Ball for the glitter.

Sushi Nom Nom Nails Did

If you know me you know I love sushi SO MUCH!!! When Ben and I were in Japan recently we should have eaten more dammit! But its so expensive there (I know right, you would think you could buy it outta vending machines but nooo. Underwear however...).

Anyway so I decided to do a homage to one of my favorite foods (since my favorite food is sweedish meatballs and they would be kinda uninteresting on my nails...and I'd probably chew my fingers off - let's be honest).

As the dark base on every other nail I used Opi's Linkin Park After Dark. For the white base I used China Glaze White on White. Then I used a whole bunch of nail art pens for the sushi, wasabi and the chopsticks on my pinky.

By the way, does anyone know how to get those pesky nail art pen necks unclogged?? I use the stupid pin thingy and for half of them they don't even go in because they're pre-clogged. Go figure.

Anyway, looking at them is making me hungry. So I'm going to stare at Ben until he gets me some sushi...but he won't...jerk.

Oh - AND GO HOCKEY TEAM CANADA!! 5 to 5 in OT? Awesome, and I don't even like hockey.

Waterlmel-icous Nails Did

This design is a total steal from The Daily Nail's fruit did's thumb, only I did my whole hand. In this I used two brand new (for me) techniques: spongeing and frankening.

Spongeing: use a sponge. duh.

Frankening: combining two or more polishes to get a new colour.

Look at me, I'm learning nail lingo! ...I hate you.

Anyway, the pink is frankened from a Sally Hansen french nail polish + an un-named dusty rose + an un-named hot pink. Then sponged ontop with China Glaze's White on White and on top of that sponged with a frankened Sally Hansen french nail polish + Sally Hansen Emerald City. The black is done with a nail art pen.

I actually might keep this for more than 2 days...which has been my average lately...I obviously need to go back to work to occupy myself.

Happy New Years Sparkle Nails Did - MOAR GLITTER!!

Nail art tip: if you mess up - just add MOAR GLITTER!!!

I decided I was gonna do something with this art glitter that I found in the christmas decorations box that was left over from making Ben his NY Giants xmas ornaments from last year. I have silver and gold, and since my last art was is silver I went the gold route.

Thing is I went in one direction: sort of a glitter tip thing with a tuxedo french line (like this but with glitter). And I HATED it. The black line was WAY too prominent...so I tried to cover it with a glitter art pen my aunt bought me for Xmas...no, no dice. SO, I figured lets just cover it! Seriously, there is like 13 layers of polish and glitter on my fingers right now, its sorta pathetic:

See? Pathetic. And what's funny is that I really liked how it looked (just like the end result) at step 6, but noooooo. I also now have glitter in my bed, hair, dog and husband to show for it. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Sparkles and Lace Nails Did

I did this a couple of days ago but didn't get around to posting it.

I feel like this is a definite Konad fail, but I guess all in all it didn't come out TOO bad. I really need to get a better black nail polish (but OCnailart is shipping my package now!!!). I was trying to do a 1/2 lace look, 1/2 sparkle thing...and for some reason this manicure took me almost 2 1/2 hours. Why? Because I kept getting my f'ing thumb stuck to cotton pad whenever I was cleaning the Konad plate.

Konad tip #1 learned the hard way: do not clean the plate with a cotton pad - use a folded tissue!

Seriously, I think I redid the thumb like 3 times.

So this is China Glaze Platinum Silver as a base, Sally Hansen Black with KP M66, black nail art pen for the line and Sally Hansen Disco ball for the glitter on the other 1/2 of the nail.
