Last Wedding of the YEAR Nails Did

I guess its just that time in my life now but I've been to more weddings this year than pretty much any other year ever! But the last one was great. This time we celebrated Amy and Sheriff who had a very interesting Jewish/African fusion wedding. It was fab. I love multicultural weddings where I get to learn about other people's traditions! I learned that its custom in Sheriff's culture to do a little dance while your family members shower you with money! They were seriously surrounded by people throwing US dollars at them! It made me feel like they were in one of those game show boxes where money is blown all around you!

So, as always I was in a rush - and though you may not be able to tell in this pic I smooshed 3 of my nails and had to redo them in 5 minutes while Ben is screaming at me to get in the car LOL. I used China Glaze White on White then did a (very crudely done) ruffian with China Glaze Liquid Leather. I also used Konad Special Stamping polish in Silver with a Bundle Monster plate, then threw on a rhinestone. For all the stuff I used I was pretty meh about it and the pictures TOTALLY doesn't do it justice...it did look a little better. Plus because of the rush I didn't get to actually clean up my cuticles. Note to self - 15 minutes is not enough for a manicure! When will I learn?

You So Cheesy Nails Did

I LOVE CHEESE. Seriously its bad. I'm actually a self-described cheese snob. I really love going to cheese mongers and saying "I'm looking for something smokey but light on the palate." LOL I'm telling you - complete snob. But Ben is just as bad if not worse. He actually bought a device called a girolle that is specifically only for one type of cheese called Tete de Moine and is used to make cheese flowers like the ones pictured. Now, they're delicious, but this little gizmo was like $80! And really, how many times do you use it. He says it will pay for itself...but add $40 for a half wheel of Tete on to that each time...yea, that can add up. However, one cheese that I LOVE and wont hurt your wallet - Guinness Cheese. Its literally marbled with Guinness beer and is AMAZING.

Alright I can talk about cheese all day obviously...so here are the nails. What I did was mix Billy Burning Hot with a un-labled nude to get a bit of a softer orange. Then I painted out little swiss cheese cut outs with a brush and nail polish remover. The mouse grey is China Glaze Liquid Leather mixed with Sally Hansen French White and some nail art pens for the accents.

Super apologies for the blurry pics. I must have taken 30 on macro and NONE were coming out for some reason so these were literally the best of the bunch! I'll try again tomorrow and see if my hands shake less or something LOL.

Monopoly Nails Did

Back when I had my 125 followers contest Brooke from Babbling Brooke suggested I do Monopoly nails, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Let me tell you - writing with nail polish is HARD. Seriously..especially on my right hand. I think "Boardwalk" came out looking more like "Borrowed", but whatever LOL. The effect is definitely still there :)

Its funny because this is actually one of the games that I despise the most - and only because Ben completely ruined it for me. I've never been that good with personal finances and this game is Ben's chance to exploit that weakness completely. I always end up with Baltic Avenue and he's got 2 hotels on Boardwalk and all the railroads - jerk.

So I used China Glaze For Audrey as the base and then some nail art pens in black, white, blue and red. I also used China Glaze Sexy and the City and Lemon Fizz, L.A. Colors Art Deco in neon purple, and Billy Polish in Burning Hot.

Speaking quickly about giveaways - I will be doing another soon!! I think I'm going to try to wait until I reach 250 followers...although I'm never one to be patient so you never know when it'll pop up!!!

Clockwork Orange Nails Did

I was watching the classic Clockwork Orange by Stanley Kubrick the other day for the first time in a long time and it really dawned on me how much I do love this movie. Not exactly sure why though. I mean, the main guy is such an anti-hero, the movie is filled with gratuitous violence and in the end its like no one really learns anything or changes for the better. But there is just something about the aesthetic of this movie which makes it one of my all time favorites. And so I decided to do a homage to it with nail art of course!

I used Billy Burning Hot for the orange, tried to be patient and let it dry completely, then used Nailene straight nail guides (I gave it another shot!!) to guide the tips that are in China Glaze Solar Power. I used nail art pens for the black lines, and Alex the Narrator's green and blue shirt and eye. I frankened Sally Hansen Satin Slip Frost and Elegance French White together to get his flesh tone.

I kinda love it.
