Nail Challenge Tag - Memoirs of a Geisha Spring Nails Did

Lacquermanic came up with this great idea to do a challenge tag and I'm honored to be the first participant!

Here are the rules:

1) Make a swatch, tightly connected to a favourite film, book, music or painting. No rules what so ever. You describe what film/book etc. is, and why it means so much to you.

Okay, so I chose one of my favorite books AND movies - Memoirs of a Geisha.

I cant tell you how much I love the cinematic value of this movie. The scenes and costumes are breathtaking as are the backdrop of Japan that it's set against. I remember being in Gion in Kyoto and all I could think of was this movie and how it must have been in its prime back before WWII. I even used the main theme of the movie as my walking down the aisle music! Even though the story line is a bit creepy - HOW old is the Chairman??? Sayuri is like..9. Its one of those movies that I can watch over and over and always find something new in it.

So I did Sayuri's spring kimono (or...close to it LOL). It turned out looking a bit like Easter but I like it!

I used China Glaze White on White for the base and then layered For Audrey on top, leaving a "V" shape. Then I took Orly Snowcone (my new fav sky blue) and with a small brush drew the fabric lines.

The Obi is made of Joe Fresh Coral, OPI's Curry Up Don't be Late, and China Glaze 2030. I also used dots of a pink nail art pen and Orly Fantasea.

10 Things That Make Me Happy Tag!!

Ahaha I love these things :D I was tagged by the super awesome Gildedangel at Naive Nails! The rules are to "post 10 things that make you happy, try to do at least one of them today, link back to the person who awarded you and pass along for up to ten people."


Alright lets get started - cause I like a lot of stuff!

1. My hubby

You know when you just see a person and know? Well that's not what happened.
Instead I saw Ben and said - hmm well maybe he wants to go to a movie with me. He said yes but then proceeded to fall asleep on me during the movie, literally ON me (who falls asleep during an action film!?), and then tried to get me drunk at a pool bar later resulting in sneaking into a cemetery just before closing where we then got shut in and had to hop a fence since the main gate was too high into a retirement home's back yard -  thus sparking 3 subsequent heart attacks upon seeing two dark figures crawl out the top of a mausoleum.

Ben is by far one of the best things to ever happen to my life. Its an understatement to say that he's my soulmate because he is really part of my soul itself. I love every day being with him. Smoopy.

2.  Bacon

Whenever life hands you lemons I say: "put some bacon on it!". Bacon makes eeeverything taste better and full of sunshine...and some grease. This stuff is like sweet sweet crack to me.

3. Family and friends

I'm extremely fortunate to have both a very loving family and a supportive group of friends.

I can never stress enough just how important it is to embrace both love and friendship into your lives - even if at the end of the day you want to push them all down the stairs. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

4. Sapporo

Man did this dog and me come close to calling it quits on more than a few occasions. But now I know he loves his mommy. He even leaves me awesome gifts like poop on my bed! Stupid dog.

5. Nail polish and nail art!

Duh easy one right. I've always loved nail polish but its definitely been heightened since I've entered the blogosphere doing nail art. Now I love all my polish ladies and this community! I'm so happy to be a part of it :)

6. Media

See I couldn't just put Movies, TV, Music etc - because I'm definitely a lover of all media. However movies and TV are at the top of my list. I get easily obsessed with things I see on the tube and I'm a huge movie watcher. I'm constantly consuming media at work, on the go on my mobile and at home. I cant get enough of it!!

7. Food

ANYTHING I can consume will pretty much make me happy. Thus this wild transformation...only in reverse. I particularly love anything Asian in nature like sushi or Chinese food. I think I definitely have a problem with taste. I think that if someone just came out with a spray that tasted like bacon that would do me just fine :D

8. Musicals

Since I was small and saw Cats for the first time I've been in LOVE with musicals. Cats is my favorite because I'm loyal like that but my other all time fav's include RENT, Lion King, Wicked, Avenue Q, Phantom of the Opera, and Into the Woods, but I've seen about 20+ different musicals in total including BAT BOY. Its good..seriously..go see it. I also love all things musical related like Glee and the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer...although I love all of BTVS regardless

9. Sarcasm

I loved New Moon SOOOO MUCH.

10. Traveling

If I could do one thing every day it would be to visit a new country! I LOVE traveling. So far I've been to Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Bali, Japan and various places around the US and Canada. I'm hoping to get to Thailand, China, Taiwan, Australia and Greece in the near future. Now if I can only get a winning cash for life ticket I'm on my way!!!
