Be Back Soon!

Well, its finally happened - my little baby arrived on Dec. 31st at 4:27pm!!! His name is Kai and was 8lbs 4oz and a whole lot of cute. Having a boy was such a total surprise since we didn't know what we were having. I've already started to discuss with Ben what type of masculine nail polish he can wear for his first time. I'm thinking a mattified version of Russian Navy? lol.
He's inherited my "I'm not impressed" look
So, that being said Polish On Digital Paper is going on a bit of a hiatus until my schedule can start to normalize a bit again since right now my life is finding moments between feeding and napping! Plus Kai loves to suck on my fingers so polishing them isn't quite the best thing right now! So don't quit on me since I'll be back soon and with a vengeance. But can you blame me? Look at that face! Who could resist spending every second with that little guy? In the meantime I'll be around with a post every now and again but in the most part I'll be off enjoying a bit of time with my new baby boy :) I hope everyone has an amazing winter and I'll see you all soon!!!

Harry Potter Nails Did

Put ya nails up if you love Harry Potter!!

So good. See, I may hate Twilight but I LOVE me some Harry Potter movie franchise. This past weekend I saw the latest movie which is 1/2 of book 7 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was seriously fantastic and was what I consider to be the closest adaptation to the books since the first and second movies. It was also a little sexy! But I won't ruin that part for a few of you who haven't seen it. GO SEE IT ALREADY!!

So I thought I'd do a little Harry Potter theme. For a base I simply used China Glaze Liquid Leather. On my thumb I did the HP logo in China Glaze 2030 and dusted on some glitter from a nail art pen in gold.

For the golden snitches I used 2030 for the ball part and then a silver nail art pen for the wings. You can't see it too well but I also swiped on some iridescence onto the wings with OPI Happy Anniversary.

I think they're super cute and I can't wait to see the part 2!! You can bring a baby to the movies right? *sigh*

Eyeko Polish Review and Giveaway!!

Contest is now closed. A winner will be announced shortly.

So I was sent these lovely Eyeko polishes from the other side of the pond...that means London right? Well they were sent from London. I love getting contacted for this kind of thing so if you are reading me nail polish world - keep em coming! LOL.

Let me just start off by saying the packaging is SO CUTE. I really like the logo and they sent me these little sticker things with it. It is ultra feminine though which is so not my thing, however, the little tiny teeny-weeny girly girl in me loves it to death. It reminds me very much of most of the packaging around cosmetics that I saw in Japan when I was there. But, onto the polishes.

Now you've probably seen these on a few blogs already so I wont get into too much detail...

Eyeko Petite Polish for French Nails
This is a super sheer pale pink and like the bottle says its ideal for french manicures! Its actually a really great sheer on its own if you're into that kinda thing. The application is smooth and I can see it sitting really well under a white or even on top of a clear as the french itself.
Indoors
Outdoors

Eyeko Tea Rose Polish For Country Nails
This polish is a much more dusty pink. Its a thicker formula and goes on opaque in 2 coats easily.

Indoors
Outdoors

Eyeko Posh Polish for Ladylike Nails
This polish is a dark beige creme with pink undertones. It certainty is posh and definitely gives me that mannequin look. I can see you pairing this subtle polish with a black dress and big black celebrity sunglasses.
Indoors
Outdoors

Eyeko Coral Polish for Resort Nails
This is my favorite polish of the bunch. Its a nice red with a bit of an orange tone to it. And just as the name says its perfect for hitting the beach and getting noticed. Its opaque in 1 coat but I'm wearing 2 coats in the pics.

Indoors
Outdoors

Eyeko Vampira Polish for Gothic Nails
This polish is a simple black with red glitter. Its actually really shiny and glittery once its applied and the formula in the bottle doesnt do it justice. This would look really cool dotted over the Coral Polish I think!
Indoors
Outdoors

So lastly just an extra pic of the bottle and brush:
The bottle is extra cute and slim and the brush was suprisingly great considering how compact the bottle is. Its a SERIOUS travel/purse polish cause its so small and you can tote it anywhere!

You can buy these polishes from the Eyeko website for £3.50 or about $5.45USD each.

OR, you could take the chance to get two RIGHT NOW!

300+ Followers SPECIAL GIVEAWAY!

Contest is now closed. A winner will be announced shortly.

I just want to take the opportunity to thank you again for stopping by and following my blog! And so, I'm holding a very special giveaway!

Lately Ben and I have been thinking about doing some remodeling around the house. And with a little one on the way we pretty much want to take the opportunity to do it sooner than later. The one part of our house that is the most painful right now is the downstairs bathroom. I mean, its okay, just not very functional. It's located underneath the stairs to the second floor and the toilet itself is RIGHT under the slope, so lets just say Ben doesn't use it, because to do so would mean he'd literally have to stand at a right angle!

So, we really want to redo the whole thing and we were looking at a few websites to help us along. One of them called JustVanities.com has some awesome vanity selections. I'm really into this one called the Ronbow Orient Yuki because of its Asian/modern flair!

The site itself is pretty great too because it offers FREE SHIPPING!! Who can beat that?

And thinking about more stuff I can buy I was looking at another website called AllModern.com. They have some great looking modern and contemporary furniture that I'm scoping out for my future nursery. They have a great baby and kids section with everything from strollers to bedding to wall decor.
I'm totally in love with these items since I'm doing a "modern flair" type of nursery (I'm so not a girly pink or Winny the Pooh girl!).

The dresser/change table is particularly neat because it can be converted down into two night stands or a headboard for a big kid bed. LOVE IT.

So the lovely people who run both of these websites have given me the unique opportunity to hold a giveaway for all of my readers!

The winner will receive a $60 gift certificate to use on any of the following websites:
JustVanities.com
AllModern.com
LuxeByCSN.com
AccentFurnitureDirect.com

Rules of Entry
All of the following are Mandatory
  1. You must be a follower of this blog. New or current it doesn't matter :)
  2. In the comments section leave your email address and the name that you follow with
  3. Post this giveaway somewhere else (Twitter, your own blog, wherever!) and leave a link where I can find the post.
That's it!

The giveaway will end on Saturday July 24th at 7pm ET. I'll contact the winner through email and hook you up with your gift certificate!! Giveaway is open to everyone!

Good luck everyone - this is an awesome giveaway I hope you all enter!!

Gifts from Alisa!

WHOOPS! I meant to post this forever ago but I guess I just left it in drafts :S

Man, when I got into this I don't think I ever truly realized how much of a community we really are here in the art world. Well the lovely Alisa sent me these goodies (actually dropped them off to my mailbox) today and they're SO great!

Funnily enough I was in Winners today looking at this exact CHI colour! LOL.

Thank you so much Alisa, you're so awesome!

Thank God for this I was so confused!

Usually it takes me a good 3 minutes of staring at a new term before it dawns on me what it might mean. But why when The Polish Addict put together this lovely list!!

I'm of course learning as I go...and sometimes I pretend that I know what everyone is talking about (shhh don't tell) but I'm all for cheat sheets!

NOTD – Nail of the Day (basically, whatever nail polish one is currently wearing.)

HTF/VHTF – Hard to Find or Very Hard to Find. Definition varies based on place of usage. Example: On MUA HTF is Clarins 230 or NARS Zulu. On Ebay VHTF is Essie Mademoiselle or OPI Bubble Bath.

RAOK – (verb form ROAKing, ROAK’d) Random Act of Kindness (giving someone else free nail polish for altruistic reasons.)

No-Buy – (1)The status of realizing that one is ridiculous, and spends entirely way too much money on nail polish. One consequently over-compensates by vowing to not buy any nail polish indefinitely, followed shortly by a major failure, see related words: Binge. (2) A mythical impossible task like Sisyphus rolling the rock up the mountain.

Stash – One’s nail polish collection, usually hidden from loved ones.

Binge – Uncontrollable desire to buy a seriously ridiculous amount of nail polish, followed by actually making the ridiculous purchase, followed by feelings of guilt and worthlessness, followed by the No-Buy vow.

Lemming - Having an uncontrollable desire for a particular polish after seeing a picture of someone else wearing that color.

Shrinkage - A coat of nail polish that shrinks on one’s nail to create a visible white space with no polish on the tip of the nail. It’s generally a very undesriable side effect of using fast drying top coat over very thickly applied polish. No relation to cold water.

Tip Pull - Looks the same as shrinkage except Tip Pull occurs after a few days of wear. It’s the most common kind of nail polish wear and tear (generally associated with typing) other than regular chipping; An excuse to change one’s nail polish.

Cuticle Drag/Cuticle Pull – The polish-less splotch centered close to the cuticle that comes from using a crappy nail polish that basically removes itself when one applies additional coats; One of life’s most frustrating occurrences.

MUAer - A member of makeupalley.com.

NBer – A member of the makeupalley.com nail board.

“The Place that Cannot be Mentioned”/”The Place that Shall Not be Named” – Ebay.

Frankenpolish/Franken - Mixing a new color from various different polishes.

Dupe – Short for ‘duplicate’. A nail polish that looks exactly like another polish. This is a rare occurrence, especially to someone plagued with the nail board eye.

The Nail Board Eye - A disease that causes the sufferer to be able to distinguish even the slightest difference of color between polishes that are seemingly the same, forcing the sufferer to decide they must own both polishes even though no one else will know that the colors are actually different.

VPL/VNL - ‘Visible Polish Line’/ ‘Visible Nail Line’ – referring to the nail white that is visible under some sheer or jelly polishes.

TWEET! Birds! Nails Did

Birds are kinda freaky, especially when they all line up on a telephone wire and stare at you like they're about to attack. I actually was chased around for 5 minutes by a Canada goose once....so now I'm pretty wary of them. Despite the fact that Canadians are supposed to be all polite and friendly - let me tell you these geese are the antithesis of that. SO NASTY, and they bite! Seriously...I remember once they joked about opening a hunting season on the goose cause there was so many. I'd throw a rock, I SO WOULD!

Anyway, I fell in love with this mani from the lovely Babbling Brooke so that was my inspiration. For the base I used L.A. Colors in Sea Green which I actually found at the dollar store! Then to highlight it I used China Glaze for Audrey and White on White.

Then with Konad special polish in black I used Konad plate M66's cherry blossom design but made sure to take off any blossoms from the stamper. Then I mixed CG Liquid Leather and White on White to get a nice grey (I'm still waiting to buy Recycle...don't ask me why...I don't know, I want it now!! :'(  ).  Its all sealed with Seche Vite

I really like this mani and I was surprised at the end result because when I did the background it looked at first like I painted my nails blue and then a bird pooped on them :S . But it all came together with the branches and the birds :D

Don't Adjust Your TV Nails Did

As you may or may not know I work in the glamorous world of TV managing TV promotions for 7 Canadian stations including (but not limited to) W Network, YTV and CMT. And when I say glamorous I mean not actually glamorous at all. Actually radio was like 100x's more glamorous...but only because I got free swag like ALL the time: movie tickets, beer, clothes, video games. In TV I can't even steal decent office supplies! Oh well, at least my nails look snazzy!

Today my nails are inspired by the industry I know and love. And the screen we see at least once a week. Good old Rogers cable!  I used this picture as my template:

To start off and to make things a wee bit easier I drew lines on my nails as a sort of grid to where I was going to draw in the colours with a pen and then I set to work. I used a lot of colours so I'll just list all that I used:

  • Frankened grey from China Glaze White on White and Liquid Leather
  • CG Solar Power
  • CG For Audrey
  • Nail art pens in Red, Green, Purple and Blue
  • CG Neon Purple Panic
  • CG Liquid Leather and Sexy in the City for the dark blue
  • CG White on White
Then I just filled in the boxes one by one with a small brush until they were all full.

I topped it off with Seche Vite to make everything stay in place. SO - this was a long mani I'm not going to lie. Between doing frankens, drawing grids and painting everything with a small brush  by hand I was running about 2.5 hours. BUT I did it watching House and Ultimate Cakes and Ben rewatching the Giants win the superbowl (for the 3rd time :S) so I had some time.

Phew...next time though I'll lean on the side of something a little simpler LOL. But they look pretty cool so I guess the time spent was worth it!!
